Vincitore di tre premi ai World Music Awards, di un disco di platino e di un Grammy, l’acclamata superstar del reggae pop Shaggy si esibirà l’11 Maggio a Roma al Centro Sociale Intifada, per i suoi 20 anni di occupazione, in un concerto all’aperto! Il grande successo internazionale arriva nel 1993 con “Oh Carolina”, cover in versione dancehall della hit ska incisa negli anni 60 da Prince Buster, entrata nella top ten inglese dei migliori brani di tutti i tempi. Le sue canzoni vengono utilizzate come colonne sonore di film ed entra nelle case di tutti con “Bombastic”, il tema musicale nella pubblicità della nota marca di jeans Levi’s. Seguono una serie di album, singoli dancehall e collaborazioni che lo portano in tour in tutto il mondo. Nel 2000, il re del party time si conferma ancora un abile miscelatore di generi e con i brani “Angel” e “It Wasnt Me” torna in vetta alle classifiche vendendo oltre 10 milioni di copie dell’album “Hot Shot”. Nel 2007 decide di ritornare alle sue radici con le sonorità dancehall di “Intoxication”, prodotto dalla sua etichetta Big Yard Records e distribuito da VP Records. Nel 2008 i due singoli “Feel The Rush” e “Like A Superstar” divengono colonna sonora del campionato di calcio EURO 2008. Nel 2010 incide insieme a Bob Sinclar e Sahara la hit di successo “I Wanna”. Nel 2011 il singolo “Sugarcane” è il brano di punta dell’album “Summer In Kingston”, in heavy rotation su radio e tv di tutto il globo. Attualmente Shaggy sta lavorando ad un album con i due mostri sacri del reggae Sly & Robbie e l’uscita è prevista in questo 2013.
